Here We Go....

We’re already three weeks into the new year and we’re off to the races. In recent years, I’ve gotten away from naming what I want to set out to do in the upcoming year, resolutions. I don’t fault anyone who does though. What’s been working for me is an overarching theme. This year I’ve committed to resuming my meditation practice and staying organized with my planners to keep me focused. Last year I did great with two of my planners and I want to keep it up. With meditation, so so. My mind wandered all over the place, couldn’t focus at all, so I stopped even attempting to meditate.

In the new year, so far, so good. 3-5 minutes for starters with my goal being 15 minutes per day. For planning, I’ve also been pretty consistent:) That is for the main life planner and the academic one. As for my budget planner, if I miss my weekly check-in day (Friday) I’ve been pretty good with following up on Saturday or Sunday. Far cry from last year when I couldn’t be bothered from late summer through December! Hmmm, I wonder why, Lol!

I still haven’t decided how to permanently move into my Travel and Content planners due new planner layout, but I’ve got pre-planning stickies all over them. At least I have a central place for all of my ideas that pop up. It’s progress!

I’ve been on a roll with meditation, but this morning I skipped, as I just didn’t feel like it🤷🏾‍♀️

Decided to sleep in. But at some point today, I’ll find five minutes for that “me” time. Having an app helps tremendously. So happy it acknowledges the mind drifting Lol! Of course, the name of said named app escapes me. Oh, and it’s a FREE-year subscription too. Maybe if one of you asks me about it, I’ll look it up:)

Also, I was sure to sign up for the Peloton app which gave a free 90-day trial for Hilton Honors members on the last day it was available, (December 31st). I haven’t even opened that app since setting up my profile. Ha!

At this rate, I’ll be set come February 1st. With still 60 days free I’ll get some worthy use out of it.

I’m proud of myself because I am kicking off my day with a healthy protein smoothie, and taking my vitamins regularly. So, in a way, it’s good I don’t jump right back in with a fitness routine. I needed to put the foundation in place first. Stress reduction, focus, healthy sleep patterns, and nutrition. I’m getting there!

For those of you who also have your sights set on health and wellness goals, and you’ve done ok, but not great at keeping up, pat yourself on the back.  Even if you’ve skipped some days like me, you’ve made it this far and you’ve laid a foundation. Remember, it takes 21 days to form a habit.

Don’t worry about the hiccups…. Just keep going!
